  • To add outdoor public artworks as another element to entice foot traffic down to explore and enjoy all that Quidi Vidi Village has to offer.

  • St. John’s International Airport Authority

  • To enhance travellers’ sense of arrival in Newfoundland as soon as they step off the plane.

  • MINI St. John’s

  • To create a mobile piece of public artwork that helped bring attention to the new 2023 MINI Countryman, and helped advertise Business and Arts NL’s Explore Art NL public art app.

  • Up to twelve municipalities will have the opportunity to host an artist residency or commission a mural to celebrate the Year of the Arts.

  • This project is a partnership between Municipalities NL and Business and Arts NL.

  • To engage citizens, local businesses, and tourists in performances, workshops, artist talks, and open studio events

    To foster the creation of works of public art in community centres

    To reinforce community centres as important locations for human connection and building community identity.

    To feature twelve artists, creators, and painters from across the province.

  • This work will create the opportunity for over 100 artists to have artwork purchased or commissioned and displayed in mental health inpatient units across the province.

    The most significant amount of artwork will be in the new Mental Health and Addictions Centre in St. John’s.

  • Honour the voices of individuals and family members’ experiences with mental illness and substance use disorders

    Actively incorporate the perspectives of Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, disability and migrant perspectives

    Connect staff, patients and visitors within the facility to images of life and communities across the province

    Foster dialogue and knowledge exchange

    Engage the community at large and promote these facilities as a space that promotes the integration between arts, science, and wellness

    Enhance the hospital experience with the healing power of art

    Interpret the sensory and restorative aspects of the natural world

    Some works will acknowledge the history of Mental Health and Addictions treatment in NL

    Make the hospital environment feel less institutional
